About The Mysore Palace
The Palace of Mysore, also known as the Amba Vilas Palace, is a historical palace located in the city of Mysore. It was designed by English Architect Henry Irwin and built in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture. The grand palace is a three-storied structure with elegantly designed square towers, domes, glazed tile flooring, stained glass windows, and a jewel-encrusted golden throne. This throne is displayed only during Mysore Dasara and is one of the palace’s most well-kept treasures.

It has four entrances, namely the Jaya Maarthaanda (main entrance) to the East, Jayarama to the North, Balarama to the South, and Varaha to the West. The palace is illuminated on Sundays, public holidays, as well as during Dasara celebrations. In fact, during Dasara, about 97,000 electric bulbs are used to illuminate the entirety of the palace!
