For many Indians, Bali in Indonesia is a popular getaway destination. Famous for its breathtaking yet budget-friendly resorts, lush tea gardens, stunning swings, and picturesque waterfalls, Bali tops the travel bucket list for countless Indian tourists. And if you’re planning a trip to Bali soon, there’s some great news that will improve your travel experience. In an effort to promote smoother experiences during your stay, Indonesia has rolled out a new system that streamlines everything from arriving at the airport to settling café bills.
Bank Indonesia has launched the Indonesia Tourist Travel Pack (ITTP) at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, aiming to streamline transactions for tourists and decrease their reliance on cash. This initiative is part of the Bali Digital Innovation Festival, which seeks to promote digital innovation and enhance the tourist experience.
Bali’s New Indonesia Tourist Travel Pack offers SIM, Wallet Payment Option For Tourists
The ITTP includes a Telkomsel SIM card or eSIM, allowing visitors to stay connected with mobile data. Additionally, it offers education on using various e-wallets, including electronic money products from banks such as Bank Mandiri, as well as popular server-based options like OVO and GoPay. These e-wallets are designed to work with the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), facilitating easy and cashless payments.

This travel pack ensures that international tourists can communicate, access the internet, and make digital payments swiftly and securely. Tourists can utilize these e-wallets to transact at shops, restaurants, souvenir centers, and public services throughout Bali.
Bank Indonesia highlights that efficient transaction processes are critical for enhancing the tourist experience in Bali, representing a significant step towards a cashless economy, although cash remains common in everyday life. Having access to a local SIM card or eSIM is beneficial for navigating and using apps like Google Maps or services like Grab and GoJek during their stay. The ITTP ultimately enables tourists to maximize their travel experiences in Bali with ease and convenience.
