When thinking of Gujarat, the Rann of Kutch instantly comes to mind. This stunning white desert attracts thousands of visitors annually, particularly during the vibrant Rann of Kutch Utsav. In 2025, the festival will expand its offerings by incorporating the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dholavira for the first time. This celebrated cultural event, showcasing the rich heritage and lively spirit of Kutch, Gujarat, is scheduled to take place from October 23, 2025, to March 2026.

The inclusion of Dholavira signifies a key moment for Rann Utsav, which has not broadened its location in two decades. Dholavira, an ancient city from the Harappan era dating back to around 3000 BCE, is celebrated for its innovative urban design.

What Should You Know About Dholavira

A short drive from the White Rann Tent City leads you to Dholavira, known as the “Harappan city of Kutch.” The Rann Utsav provides an intriguing look into one of the oldest civilizations in the world.

As you explore the ruins, you’ll notice the carefully laid-out streets, water reservoirs, and ancient inscriptions that share stories dating back 5,000 years. This historical site perfectly enhances the cultural experience of the Rann Utsav, making it an essential stop for history enthusiasts and adventurous travelers.

What To Know About The Rann Utsav 2025 

The Rann Utsav for 2025-2026 will run from October 2025 to March 4, 2026. This vibrant desert festival spans over four months, giving you ample time to plan your visit and enjoy activities, such as luxurious accommodations, desert excursions, traditional music, and local crafts.

The festival, lasting more than 100 days, allows for flexible scheduling. During the event, visitors can experience a variety of more than 100 cultural activities, including traditional music and dance performances, artisan showcases, local cuisine tastings, kite flying, and fashion shows highlighting Kutchi attire.

Other exciting activities featured at Rann Utsav include camel safaris, ATV rides, photography sessions at sunrise and sunset, workshops on block printing and pottery, and the chance to shop for unique handicrafts, all enhanced by nightly cultural performances.
