Banke Bihari Temple Extends Darshan Hours, Introduces New Queue System To Ease Crowd Rush

Banke Bihari Temple

No trip to Vrindavan and Mathura is complete without a visit to the Banke Bihari Temple. This sacred site, dedicated to Lord Krishna, is one of the most beloved temples in both Vrindavan and India, attracting millions of visitors each year. While visiting this temple is a spiritually enriching experience, long lines and large crowds can sometimes detract from it. To better manage the crowds and reduce waiting times, new regulations have been implemented. These updates include extended visiting hours and an organized queuing process.

The High Power Management Committee, responsible for the temple’s administration, announced these changes recently. During the summer months, darshan times will now run from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and later from 4:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The early morning Shringar aarti is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7:15 a.m., while temple access will close after the Rajbhog and Shayan aartis at 9:30 p.m.

Banke Bihari Temple Winter Timings Updated, New Entry And Exit System Approved

Winter devotees will also benefit from longer darshan timings, which are set from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the Shringar aarti occurring from 8 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. These changes were approved by the Committee Secretary and the Mathura District Magistrate after a meeting chaired by a former High Court judge.

Additionally, a new entry and exit system has been approved to enhance the flow of movement throughout the 870-square-metre temple complex, which features a 365-square-metre viewing courtyard.

Devotees will now enter through Gates 2 and 3 and exit via Gates 1 and 4. To ensure orderly access, steel barriers will establish three lines at each entry point for efficient darshan experiences. Concerns regarding the VIP passes have been resolved, with Chairman Ashok Kumar confirming that the issuance of duplicate or photocopied VIP passes has been eliminated. VIP darshan will now strictly follow established protocols.

These updates come in response to a recent altercation between two women and security personnel concerning VIP lanes. Following this incident, an inquiry committee was formed to propose both immediate and long-term strategies for managing crowds more effectively.
