Kuwaiti travelers are about to have a more convenient, hassle-free way of visiting India as the latter has introduced e-Visa services. People traveling from Kuwait to India can now ditch the paperwork and instead go for a fully digital e-Visa that they can easily get within three to four working days. India has introduced an e-Visa for Kuwaiti nationals in five different categories. These include tourism, business, medical, AYUSH/wellness (yoga travel included), and conference. The introduction of e-visas across these categories will significantly make travel for Kuwaiti nationals to India more convenient and flexible. Plus, just within a span of three to four working days, they can get their hands on a valid e-Visa!
Speaking on this, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Adarsh Swaika said, “The launch of the e-visa facility for Kuwaiti nationals marks a significant step towards strengthening the bonds between our two countries by making travel to India simpler, faster, and more efficient”.
He also mentioned that the e-Visa request has been a long-standing one from Kuwaiti nationals, so it only makes sense to launch an e-Visa for Kuwaiti nationals now.
The long-term tourist visa will be valid for up to five years and will cost them USD 80 (INR 6867). Other e-Visa categories will range anywhere between USD 40 (INR 3434) and USD 80.
Push Towards Digital Diplomacy
The introduction of e-Visa for Kuwaiti nationals reflects the enduring historic ties between the two countries. Plus, with digital convenience now at their fingertips, Kuwaiti nationals can enter India in a more hassle-free manner.
While the visa process will be completely digital, travelers will have to submit their biometric data upon arrival at 32 Indian airports and 5 seaports. Once this is approved, travelers will receive an Electronic Travel Authorization by email that must be presented at immigration.
Dr. Swaika called this initiative a great push towards digital diplomacy as India aims to modernize consular service and deepen ties with the Gulf region.
While the new e-Visa system has rolled out for Kuwaiti nationals, the traditional visa process is still functional. Those who prefer the more traditional regular paper visa can apply via the Indian Consular Application Centers (ICAC) in Kuwait.
