More Than 6 Lakh Visitors And 1.7 Million Flowers

Srinagar’s Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden saw a whopping 1.7 million tulips blooming merrily in the 74-acre tulip fields. The garden was inaugurated on 26th March 2025 by Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Within just 20 days of its inauguration, the garden recorded its highest-ever footfall at about 6,71,926 people! Yes, you read it right – more than 6 lakh visitors in just 20 days!

The ongoing tulip show has welcomed a diverse crowd of tourists. It recorded about 27,810 residents, 3,91,918 domestic tourists, and 2,198 visitors from abroad. In terms of the garden, there are 74 unique varieties of tulips in this garden, and about 50,000 tulip bulbs were imported directly from the Netherlands when the garden first opened.

Statistics Of 2022 and 2023

If you compare these statistics to 2022 and 2023, you’ll notice that 2025 saw the highest-ever visitor footfall. The garden saw 3.65 lakh visitors in both 2022 and 2023. 2024 saw a rise of 4.45 lakh. However, in 2025, the garden experienced unprecedented growth in its visitors by recording a whopping 6 lakh visitors in just 20 days!  This number is expected to grow as the garden will remain open for a few more weeks before it closes for the year.

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden opened its gates for the public on 26th March, 2025. The 74-acre garden is nestled beautifully between the renowned Dal Lake and the Zabarwan Mountains. The garden’s unique location lends it unparalleled beauty, as you get a view of the snow capped mountains as well as the serene Dal Lake.

The garden features a ribbon-cutting ceremony each year and this year it was inaugurated by Jammu & Kashmir’s Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah. However, this year’s inauguration ceremony was comparatively peaceful as it was the month of Ramadan. The garden first opened in 2007 and has since been an important landmark in Srinagar. Not just that, but the garden has been one of the most significant tulip gardens in India – known for its expansive rows of colorful tulips.
