Attention Bengaluru residents! If you regularly drive on the roads, we have important news for you. Starting April 1, the cost of traveling to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and using the Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) will increase due to new Bengaluru toll rates. This change will impact all road users, including those in personal vehicles, taxis, and public transport like Vayu Vajra buses, as the authorities will adjust the new annual toll rates based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI).
The updated toll rates set by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will be implemented at the Sadahalli toll plaza on the airport route (NH 7) and the Hulikunte and Nalluru Devanahalli toll plazas along STRR (NH 648), as reported by Deccan Herald. According to the report, vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and other light motor vehicles will now incur a toll of INR 120 for a one-way trip and INR 180 for a round trip in a single day at the Sadahalli toll plaza. A monthly pass for 50 single trips will cost INR 3,970.
The Bengaluru Toll Increase Will Impact Thousands Of Daily Travelers
Light commercial vehicles and minibuses will face charges of INR 185 for a one-way journey and INR 275 for a round trip, with a monthly pass priced at INR 6,100. For buses and trucks, the updated rates are INR 370 for a single journey, INR 550 for a return trip, and INR 12,265 for a monthly pass.
The toll increase will also affect users of STRR. At the Hulikunte toll plaza, the toll for cars and light vehicles will rise to INR 110 for a single trip, INR 165 for a return trip, and INR 3,615 for a monthly pass. Meanwhile, the Nalluru Devanahalli toll plaza will charge car drivers INR 85 for a single journey and INR 125 for a round trip.
This increase in toll fees will impact thousands of daily travelers, especially those frequently commuting to the airport and nearby areas.
