Road trips are a blast; not only do you get to take in beautiful landscapes, but you also get to jam to your favorite tunes, spend quality time with your loved ones, and truly embrace your ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ vibes. When we mention ‘Dil Chahta Hai,’ Goa is likely the first place that comes to mind. Indeed, Goa is a must-visit destination for everyone in India. If you’re considering a trip to Goa and are up for a road trip, there’s exciting news for you. The Mumbai to Goa highway is undergoing a significant upgrade, and once completed, the usual travel time of around 12 to 13 hours will be cut down to just 6 hours. Here’s what you need to know.

The 466-kilometer stretch of the four-lane Mumbai-Goa Highway is estimated to be finished by May or June 2025. Once it opens, it will connect Panvel to Sindhudurg, passing through the breathtaking areas of Raigad and Ratnagiri. The project, led by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the National Highway Public Works Department (NHPWD), aims to improve connectivity and enhance the travel experience, featuring 14 interchanges along the route.

Initially estimated to cost Rs 3,500 crore, the highway’s total budget has reportedly ballooned to Rs 7,300 crore due to various delays. Officials are hopeful that the project will wrap up before the start of the monsoon season. Stay tuned for further updates!
