They’ll then perform in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on the 25th and 26th of the same month.
DY Patil Stadium’s History
Owned by the DY Patil Sports Academy, the stadium is situated inside the DY Patil University Campus, Nerul. It is primarily a cricket stadium but is also used for football events, music concerts, and more such events. Situated nearly 50 kilometers (km) east of Mumbai City, the stadium was inaugurated in March 2008 as Mumbai Indians’ (a team in the Indian Premier League/IPL) home ground.
How To Reach DY Patil Stadium For Coldplay’s Concert From Mumbai?
By Air
The nearest airport to the stadium is Mumbai’s international airport, called Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM). This airport is one of the busiest airports in the country and has plenty of international and domestic flights. If you are visiting Mumbai by air, you can take a local cab or hire an Ola/Uber service from the airport to the stadium or your hotel venue in Navi Mumbai. These Ola/Uber rides generally start at INR 450 onwards but are quite a convenient option.
By Rail
Nerul and Juinagar Railway Station, situated on the Mumbai Local Railway’s Harbour Line, are the closest railway stations to the stadium. Trains to and from Nerul are frequently available too.
If you’re staying for the concert in the Central or Western Railway Line Areas, such as Bandra, Vile Parle, Andheri, Airport Road, Fort, Colaba, Juhu, or Versova, you can easily transfer between trains on the Dadar and Kurla railway stations. From the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), there are direct trains available to Nerul.
For most concert-goers, the railways will serve as the most used form of transportation, as they are the fastest and most efficient public transport option in the city.
By Road
Nerul is extremely well-connected to other suburbs in Mumbai and places outside Mumbai by important roads and highways. If you’re driving from Mumbai, you must follow the Airoli-Vashi-Nerul route, which can also be easily accessed via GPS systems. Getting in and around Mumbai by road is pretty much just a game of GPS navigation!
Another option is to use local buses to get to Nerul. Mumbai and Navi Mumbai have an extensive network of bus services, however, we’d not really recommend them. This is because you might be faced with Mumbai’s traffic or bus delays.
How To Reach DY Patil Stadium From Nerul and Juinagar Stations
If you are entering the venue from gates 6, 7, 8, or 9, Nerul Railway Station is the closest to you. It will only take a 5 to 10-minute walk from the railway station to reach the venue.
However, if you are entering the venue from gates 2, 3, 4, or 5, Juinagar Railway Station is the closest to you. Just walk for a mere 7 to 8 mins and you’ll be reaching the venue in no time!
If you are attending the concert, we highly recommend using public transport like railways and buses. If you are using the bus, here are two bus stops closest to the stadium:
DY Patil Stadium Bus Stop (NMMT buses): The bus stop is for NMMT buses run by Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport. From here, the stadium is hardly a 5-minute walk away.
SIES College Bus Stop (NMMT/BEST buses): Both NMMT and BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport) buses halt at this bus stop. Walk for 5 minutes and you’ll reach the venue.
We also recommend downloading and using the M-Indicator App that has all the information you need about Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane’s public transport and local updates.
