The iconic Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad is gearing up for a grand transformation with a Kashi Vishwanath-inspired corridor. Spearheaded by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), this project aims to elevate the pilgrimage experience for visitors. The corridor will also feature a 2-kilometer heritage trail. This trail will connect 35 temples in Ahmedabad, offering a seamless blend of spirituality and history.

Known as the ‘Temple Link Project,’ this initiative, with a budget of Rs. 155 crores, aims to connect 35 temples through a 2-kilometer heritage trail. Starting at Vasant Chowk, the trail passes through landmarks such as the Ganesh Temple and Saptarshi No Aaro, before culminating at the Jagannath Temple via the traditional Jal Yatra route.

The project also includes the expansion of temple squares, gardens, and a heritage interpretation center to celebrate Ahmedabad’s cultural legacy. Additionally, a new six-lane bridge and a multilevel parking facility with a capacity for 750 four-wheelers will be built.

The redevelopment of Ahmedabad’s ‘Temple Link Project’ will be carried out in three phases.

The Corridor Construction Of Jagannath Temple In Ahmedabad Will Carry Out In 3 Phases

Phase 1 of Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad focuses on the renovation of temples near Vasant Chowk and Rambari, located along the Sabarmati River. These restorations aim to preserve the heritage and improve the spiritual experience for visitors.

For phase 2, a grand plaza will be developed in front of the Jagannath Temple, creating an amazing entryway for pilgrims. Additionally, temples near Saptarshi No Aaro will be restored, and a gate will be constructed along the Sabarmati River, further emphasizing the cultural and historical value of the site.

Lastly, phase 3 will focus on the development of a 1,600 square-meter heritage center in Tilak Bag, showcasing the city’s rich cultural legacy. A multilevel parking facility will be constructed to address traffic in the area, accommodating up to 750 vehicles.

This redevelopment plan aims to advance Ahmedabad’s spiritual landmarks.
