From the snow-drenched landscapes of the Indo-China border to the barren landscapes of Ladakh and nearby regions, we got a first look at the real-world locations in the movie. The Battle of Rezang La was a major battle that took place on November 18, 1962, against the backdrop of the 1962 Indo-China War. In October 1962, Chinese troops launched a large-scale offensive against India in the disputed border areas of Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin. The Indian troops were tasked with defending these disputed areas, and the Rezang La pass became a key defense point in this struggle.
The 13th Battalion of the Kumaon Regiment was entrusted with defending the Rezang La Pass under the command of Major Shaitan Singh. After a fatal clash between the two sides, official reports state that 114 Indian soldiers lost their lives, including Major Shaitan Singh. On the other hand, about 1,400 Chinese soldiers perished. Farhan Akhtar, in the movie 120 Bahadur, will be essaying the role of Major Shaitan Singh, the heroic leader of the Battle of Rezang La.

Shooting In Freezing Temperatures!
At a time when most movies are shot in artificially constructed sets or indoor studios, 120 Bahadur utilized real-world locations in India. The movie has been extensively shot in Ladakh, a region where Akhtar’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was also shot.
120 Bahadur was shot at altitudes of more than 14,000 feet in the barren landscapes of this region. It is reported that the crew shot in landscapes where temperatures would often plunge to -5°C or even -10°C!
Enduring these harsh temperatures, the cast and crew, including Farhan Akhtar, finished shooting the movie. Akhtar gave his all – mentally, emotionally, and physically- to prepare for this challenging role and honor the story of one of India’s bravest warriors. Additionally, the movie has also been shot in Rajasthan and Mumbai; however, details of the movie locations in these regions haven’t been disclosed yet.

Also, what is interesting is that the action team behind 120 Bahadur is the same one that worked on the Oscar-winning movie, All Quiet on the Western Front. The action team has choreographed intense battle scenes involving dozens of artists and used innovative methods to film action scenes. During the movie’s shoot, more than 600 people were present on the set at once to manage scenes involving explosives!
